Did God make sin?

Why did God make us?

1.        All things should be for Him -to  bring Him pleasure and glory.

  • All things were created by him, and for him: Col 1:16

  • Thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.Rev 4:11

  • I have created him for my glory Isaiah 43:7

  • To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: Eph 3:10,11

  • Ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.  1 Cor 6:20

Do you bring Him glory?

2.        That the Son may bring many people to glory - creating a holy, Christ like, glorious church

Not an organisation or a building but a multigenerational company of all He has saved down through the centuries, from the Day of Pentecost until the Lord returns.

  • It became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (Heb 2:10)

  • And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Rom 8:28,29)

  • Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church. (Eph 5:25-27)

Did God know men would sin?

Yes, He knew what would happen and He had a plan to rescue sinners before the first one sinned.

  • I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning. (Isaiah 46:9,20)

  • Redeemed… with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last

times for you... (1 Pet 1:19,20)

How sin entered the world.

  • Gen 2:16,17 – Adam and Eve were given one rule . “In the day that you eat of it you shall surely die”

  • They were tempted by the devil – Gen 3:6 – he appealed to Eve's appetite, to her own sense of what looks good, to her pride.

  • He questioned God’s word and God’s goodness.

  • Disobedience brought shame (v7)and the fear of God (v10)

  • V15 – God’s gracious promise.

  • V24 – God’s judgment on Adam and Eve

What is the result of sin entering the world?

  1. Suffering and Death

Sin entered the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men…(Rom 5:12)

  2. A Sinful nature

For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners. (Rom 5:19)

  3. Sinful lives

All have sinned and come short of the glory of God . (Rom 3:23)

  4. Slavery to sin

whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. (John 8:34)

  5. Separation from God

Your iniquities have separated between you and your God. (Is 59:2)

  6. The Saviour’s sacrifice – it was always part of God’s plan.

Christ also has once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God. (1 Peter 3:18)

He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all… (Rom 8:32)

Because He died for our sins and rose again, the Saviour now offers:

1.        Forgiveness – clearing of our guilt    (1 John 1:9)

2.        Reconciliation – bringing us near    (Eph 2:13,18)

3.        Adoption – into God’s family            (1 John 3:2)

4.        Freedom – from sin’s power             ( John 8:36)

5.        Eternal life – a changed life now, and hope beyond the grave ( John 11:35)

How?

We must repent of our sins and place our faith alone in the Lord Jesus to save us.

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)
